HarvestPlus’s Dr. Khairul Bashar to lead Bangladesh’s Plant Breeding and Genetics Society
HarvestPlus is proud to announce the election of our Country Manager for Bangladesh, Dr. M. Khairul Bashar, as President of the country’s Plant Breeding and Genetics Society. Dr. Bashar is a founding member of the organization, having joined some 40 years ago. The Plant Breeding and Genetics Society has over 750 members from the scientific, academic and research communities in Bagladesh who have made invaluable contributions to increasing and improving Bangladesh’s crop production.
Dr. Bashar leads HarvestPlus Bangladesh, in collaboration with the Bangladesh Rice Research Institute and the International Rice research institute, in promoting zinc enriched rice. HarvestPlus Bangladesh works with more than 30 partners drawn from government, business, and civil society.
