As a major funder of HarvestPlus, the United Kingdom’s Department for International Development (DFID) is helping to improve millions of lives in Africa and Asia. From Bangladesh to Zimbabwe, more than 4 million farming households are benefiting from more nutritious, biofortified varieties of their staple foods. Those benefits include better health and improved productivity and livelihoods.

We are scaling up the delivery of biofortified crops to spread those benefits to millions more people. With the generous support of donors like DFID, we are confident of reaching a billion people by 2030.

For a week, we will be highlighting some of the biofortified nutritious crops that DFID funding is suporting to improve nutrition in Africa and Asia.

In the video below, you can watch the testimony of Rwandan farmers who have adopted iron-biofortified beans.
