As meal managers and caregivers, Ugandan women are the gatekeepers of nutrition and health in their families.
HarvestPlus Uganda’s MENU project draws on that unique role and engages Ugandan mothers in the Lead Mother initiative. Mothers are galvanizing communities toward positive change together with local partners, funded by USAID as part of Feed the Future, the U.S. Government’s global hunger and food security initiative.
The women at the heart of this initiative are boldly invested in their communities and are leading lights in the quest to deliver better nutrition and health to farming households through biofortified crops.
One such lead mother is Nakijoba Anet Wadega from the western district of Kakumiro. In this video, Nakijoba explains her work and impact in the community.
