2018 was a landmark year in our efforts to advance crop biofortification as a solution to hidden hunger.
In collaboration with our many partners we:
- Strengthened the evidence base that biofortified crops measurably improve micronutrient status and health
- Advanced efforts to sustain biofortification’s impact—by the end of 2018, 21 governments had included biofortification in their national agricultural and/or nutrition strategies
- Developed and disseminated more than 290 varieties of 12 staple food crops, benefiting more than 50 million people to date
