HarvestPlus was awarded the Society-Global category award for its groundbreaking work in biofortification, which is having a significant impact on combatting malnutrition worldwide. The award was presented on April 26 at the 2023 Indian Agri-Business Summit and Agri Awards (ABSA) ceremony. The Honorable Minister for Agriculture of the Government of Telangana, Shri. Singireddy Niranjan Reddy presented the award.
“More than 86 million people on farms worldwide have benefited from eating biofortified crops to date,” said Binu Cherian, HarvestPlus India Country Manager, when he received the award. “This award marks a significant milestone for HarvestPlus as we celebrate our 20-year journey in 2023. This prestigious recognition is a testament to the dedication of our farming community, supportive partners, and our tireless team who have worked to make biofortified crops a reality.” In India, HarvestPlus collaborates with 135 partners across the value chain, and globally, with over 750 scaling partners.
ABSA, an annual event, is a platform to formally recognize the efforts of the agri-input industry in enhancing crop productivity by offering innovative and superior agri-inputs and services. The winners showcased by ABSA will inspire all stakeholders nationwide. ABSA honors the achievements and shares the success stories of public and private organizations, community organizations, enterprises, institutions, and individuals that are actively involved in boosting economic growth, community services related to agriculture and allied industry, and achieving milestones in this sector.
