A new publication by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) highlights biofortification among options for agricultural interventions that are nutrition-sensitive. It provides the rationale for biofortification and offers concrete recommendations to maximize impact. Among those recommendations are integration of biofortification into national policies and agricultural systems, and investment in impact research.
The publication, Nutrition-Sensitive Agriculture and Food Systems in Practice: Options for Intervention, is part of FAO’s broader package of guidance materials for program planners and policy makers.
