HarvestPlus is saddened to report the passing of Dr. Agnes Namutebi Zziwa on July 12, 2017 in Kampala. Dr. Namutebi, one of the youngest Ph.D. holders, was a Lecturer at Makerere University’s Department of Food Science and Technology. She was a passionate advocate of biofortification, working with the Uganda/HarvestPlus team on testing and product development of the vitamin A orange sweet potato (OSP). According to her colleagues at HarvestPlus, her powerful intellect was tempered by an enthusiastic commitment to science, untiring work ethic and unerring humility.
Dr. Namutebi has made a significant contribution to the biofortification mission. Her collegiality and friendship has enriched us all. She will be missed.
