Adesina, Champion of Biofortification, Wins 2017 World Food Prize
HarvestPlus congratulates Dr. Akinwumi Adesina on winning the 2017 World Food Prize.
Dr. Adesina, the President of the African Development Bank, has been a champion of biofortification for many years, and was crucial to the adoption and expansion of biofortified crops in his native Nigeria when he led his country’s agriculture ministry.
This year’s World Food Prize recognizes his work in agricultural reform throughout Africa, which has supported millions of farmers and increased food production, nutrition, and income.
